I don’t know how it happened, but this week I am becoming the mother of an adult. My older son will be 18 on Saturday and I know everyone always says this, but I can’t for the life of me figure out where the time went!! With that said, I love celebrating my husband and kids and on their birthdays they get to pick out treats and dinner and of course the cake. The Kit Kat cake has been a favorite in the past and is so easy to make. It wasn’t picked for this birthday, but for some reason I felt the need to make one.
Here’s what you will need:
– box of yellow cake mix
– tub of chocolate icing
– large bag of M&M’s
– a few king size packs of Kit Kat’s
Here’s what you need to do:
Bake two cakes according to the directions on the box and let them cool completely. I made two six inch cakes, but you can make eight inch cakes if you want. You will just need more Kit Kat’s and M&M’s. I shaved off some cake from the top, so the Kit Kat’s would fit just right. Ice your cake and make sure to be generous on the sides to help your Kit Kat’s stick. Don’t worry too much about the top because it will be covered.
Break apart the Kit Kat’s and stack them around the cake.
Refrigerate for 20 minutes to help the cake set. When the cake is set fill the top with M&M’s and it’s ready to be served.
This cake is just so cute and the kids just love it!!
Enjoy
